A friend remarked:  As for the science of diet being "fairly established" - yeah ... it's always established until around every few years when we completely redraw the entire paradigm.  Somehow our current model is always the "correct" one - as if scientific truth hasn't been in constant flux.

I replied:  

Yes, it is about time for flat earth model to come back. Oh wait it is already back among a considerable few.  

Attended a great lecture at the SkeptiCalCon where flatness-deniers, such as Glenn Branch, talked about how they try to keep the current spherical paradigm alive by doing experiments that attempt to show the earths curvature to their critics with their own eyes. 

Flatness-deniers are so very vocal in their denials.
